PADI 3-5 Day Open Water Course

Now is the time to dive into the PADI Open Water Diver course, the most popular dive program in the world! This is your ticket to a lifetime of intense adventure. The standard Open Water Course takes four to five days to complete. Your instructor will assume that you have no advance knowledge of diving and that they will take you through each stage point by point, mixing theory and practice and explaining the details as you go. It is a complete, carefully structured course designed to teach you to be a safe, competent diver. The course is divided into three parts; Classroom, confined water and four open water dives. During the course you will practice and master the skills that you will need as a diver, with your instructor devoting maximum time to teaching you fun, safe diving. This ensures virtually anyone in good health who is reasonably fit, that can swim and is comfortable in the water can scuba dive.

Breakdown of a typical course:  although our programs are structured to meet your schedule and it is possible to make the first open water dive on the first or second day of the course, this example breakdown illustrates what is involved in a PADI Open Water Diver course:

Days 1 and 2

The first day starts off with an introductory video and the fitting of your equipment. During your first one or two days some of the time will be spent in the classroom for academic training whilst your initial training dives are completed in the swimming pool or the confined shallows at our local dive sites. Time spent in the classroom during precious holiday time can be greatly reduced by taking advantage of the PADI referral system. Click here for further details.

Days 3 and 4-5

After one or two days training you will be ready for your first open water dives at one of our dive sites where you will complete your course with four open water dives over two days.

As a certified PADI Open Water Diver you have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of a professional, (with the exception of Junior Open Water Diver (10-11) must be accompanied by parent or guardian or PADI professional after certification, and Junior Open Water Diver (12-14) must be accompanied by an adult. If you already tried a Discover Scuba Diving experience or are certified Scuba Diver, check with your instructor to see how credit from these courses may apply to the open water program. Open water learning options include group or private instruction. This course offers tremendous flexibility and lets you work out individual needs with your instructor.

At some point in the course, your PADI Instructor will ask you to demonstrate the ability to swim 200 meters without swim aids or 300 meters with mask, fins and snorkel and complete a bit of paperwork, to get you on your way.

Course cost : $360
